Family Proceedings and Criminal Law
We appreciate as a firm there is often a taboo with saying you need criminal assistance, when you have never been in trouble with the police before your marriage/relationship breakdown. Unfortunately, the nature of a marriage or relationship breakdown means that sometimes family proceedings also result in the need for criminal advice. Likewise, it can be that criminal proceedings that lead to family law issues.
Examples of when family proceedings require knowledge of criminal law are:
- When there is a history of domestic abuse.
- Where there have been elements of financial fraud through out the marriage or as an attempt to conceal assets as a result of the separation.
- When the marriage/relationship has ended because of the other persons criminal behaviour.
We are able to assist the victim in knowing their rights and options and/or in assisting the other person in knowing the potential consequences of their behaviour.
We have knowledge of both areas of law which can assist our clients, whilst as a firm not offering criminal advice. For a non-judgemental consultation, please get in touch on 01608 686590 or email us.
